ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Angela, and I live in the East Gippsland city of Sale. Since coming to Sale in late 2003, I have been amazingly inspired to do some serious painting.
I am continually in awe of God's marvellous creation, and as the ultimate artist He must have had an amazing time with all the colours and textures that exist within our world. I don't claim to be great at what I do and I dislike drawing but I absolutely love what one can do with paint and colour. I like to create my take on how I see the beauty of our world and I like to use as much textile as I can to give the piece depth. You will therefore see in my work real leaves, fabric, a lot of felt, sometimes sequins, paint and glue mixed together, and even sand !
I started painting 10 years ago, just as a hobby. Autumn 2006, walking with a friend around Lake Guthridge, I recalled how much as a child I had loved collecting autumn leaves and making collages with them. And so, we began collecting leaves, and I ended up with a huge collection sitting in a box out in my backyard, and I thought, NOW WHAT?
In time, a picture began to form in my mind of what I wanted to achieve and so I went looking for an appropriate sized canvas, but couldn't find one, so ended up with four nailed together and the finished product looked quite interesting. This was my first serious piece, Autumn '06, and in august 2008 it was sold and I hope is as much joy to the new owner as it was to me while I had it hanging on my wall, because, Autumn is my favourite time of year, and then the Spring, as you can see from my paintings !
After doing a couple more paintings, someone suggested I hang them locally and although that scared me silly, I plucked up the courage to do so. I sold two and got some very positive feedback and began to take myself a lot more seriously.
In August 2008 I exhibited my art at the Sale Entertainment Centre for the month, and sold five pieces. Since then, I have shown my art at several venues around Sale and Golden Beach. I now have quite a few pieces of original work, which are FOR SALE.
Over the years I have had a great interest in Make-up and Photography and since 2002 I have had opportunities to develop in these areas. In 2002-2003 I did an Adanced Make-Up Course at Dandenong TAFE and in 2008 I finally purchased my long awaited camera upon which all the photos on this website were taken.
Over the past 12-18 months I have been busy designing Greeting Cards and Bookmarks of my art, photos and face painting.
In so doing, I have also designed Inspirational Greeting Cards and Bookmarks.
Some photos of my work are available as Framed Prints.
Some greeting cards are for sale at ALL WRAPPED UP gift store, Raymond street, Sale.
